Naomi Dempsey, M.D., is a board-certified breast medical oncologist at Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health. She specializes in breast cancer medical oncology.Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute in 2023, Dr. Dempsey served as a hematologist and breast medical oncologist at the Lynn Cancer Institute where she led the breast cancer research effort. Her work can be found in various publications, including Breast Cancer Research and Treatment and Hematology Oncology Clinics of North America. Before her time at the Lynn Cancer Institute, Dr. Dempsey was chief fellow of hematology and oncology at University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Center.She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society and American College of Physicians.Dr. Dempseys approach to care is compassionate and collaborative. She believes in evidence-based methods tailored to her breast cancer patients goals and priorities for their care. She gets to know the patients and their families to understand what is most important to them in their treatment journey. With this information, she creates a treatment plan that will optimize cancer outcomes while accounting for each patients unique needs and values.When she is not treating patients, Dr. Dempsey enjoys spending time with her daughter Keira. She also plays the flute with the Greater Miami Symphonic Band where she serves as the principal piccolo player.

Rohan Garje, M.D., is a nationally renowned medical oncologist and the chief of genitourinary medical oncology at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Garje specializes in the treatment of prostate, kidney, bladder, testicular and penile cancer. Dr Garje has significant expertise in the design of novel investigator-initiated clinical trials and has served as the principal investigator for numerous phase I, II and III clinical trials. He focuses on providing precision oncology care utilizing targeted therapy, hormonal therapy, immunotherapy, radioligand therapy and chemotherapy. Dr. Garje is an internationally published leader in cancer research. He has amassed over 30 publications in prestigious journals, such as Journal of Clinical Oncology and the Journal of Immunotherapy for Cancer. At the Institute, he leads a team of medical oncologists actively involved in clinical research bringing industry-leading treatments to patients with genitourinary cancers. Before joining Miami Cancer Institute in 2022, Dr. Garje served as an associate professor of medicine in hematology and oncology at the University of Iowa/Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.Dr. Garje is also the chair for the castration-resistant prostate cancer guidelines committee for the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He leads the committee’s work in reviewing research and writing guidelines for prostate cancer treatment. Dr. Garje serves on the editorial board for Current Problems in Cancer and is a reviewer for multiple journals including Journal of Clinical Oncology and Journal of Oncology Practice. Dr. Garje is passionate about providing individual care to each patient because each has a unique journey. He takes time to listen to patients and walks with them throughout their treatment. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Garje enjoys spending time with his family and traveling, always with a camera in hand. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Telugu and Marathi.

John P. Diaz, M.D., FACOG, FACS, is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist and holds multiple leadership roles at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, including chief of gynecologic oncology, director of robotic surgery and director of clinical research in gynecologic oncology. He also serves as chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Diaz provides comprehensive and compassionate gynecologic cancer care for women with endometrial, ovarian, cervical, vaginal or vulvar cancer. He has extensive training and experience in robotic and minimally invasive surgery, which results in shorter hospital stays and faster recovery times for patients. A surgical innovator, Dr. Diaz has helped pioneer novel procedures such as fertility-sparing radical trachelectomy for early-stage cervical cancer and sentinel lymph node mapping in gynecologic malignancies. He also performed Florida’s first uterine transposition procedure for a patient with gynecologic cancer, preserving reproductive potential in a groundbreaking approach. Under the direction of Dr. Diaz, Miami Cancer Institute’s gynecologic oncology research and clinical trials program offers innovative treatments and advanced technologies to women in South Florida. His research interests include new surgical methods for ovarian cancer and innovative cancer therapies like hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy and immunotherapy. He was awarded a $1.7 million research grant to investigate novel therapeutics for the treatment of gynecologic cancers. Dr. Diaz has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at scientific symposiums. He serves as a reviewer for Gynecologic Oncology, BioMed Cancer, International Journal of Gynecologic Oncology and the Annals of Surgical Oncology. He also holds several leadership and committee positions within such professional organizations as the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Diaz earned his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and was inducted into the Iron Arrow Honor Society, the university’s highest honor. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He also completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, N.Y., where he was awarded the Department of Surgery’s Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Research. Dr. Diaz is dedicated to advancing women’s health, cancer care, surgical innovation and academic leadership on both a regional and national level. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
