J.J. Gandy's Pies opened for business in October of 1982. Our name comes from "J" for Jeff ( son ), "J" for Jodi ( daughter ), "G" for Gay ( Mom ), "Andy" for Andy ( he got his entire name in there...he is Dad! ) and "S" for our last name, Schmidt. Originally located in Alderman Plaza from 1982 until 1987, we outgrew our space there and relocated to our present location at 3725 Alt. 19 ( Palm Harbor Blvd ). Over the years, we have done very little advertising. You, the customer, are our best advertisement. Thank you for spreading our "sweet news". We also sell to over 100 restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. Our specialty is pies. Key Lime pie is our best seller by far ; all of our customers say it's the best Key Lime pie they have ever had. Many of our pies have been hand-carried across the country and around the world to share with distant family and friends. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, our famous Pumpkin Chiffon pie takes over as the best seller. All of our pies are guaranteed to satisfy your taste buds. We make all of our fillings from scratch. Taste the difference! Free samples are always available. If you just stroll into our shop we have several pies on hand and some that are made fresh to order while you wait. Fruit pies ( two-crusted baked pies ) should be ordered a day in advance. ( we do bake a few each day but would prefer that you get yours hot from the oven ). During the holidays we highly recommend that you order all of your pies as early as possible. Thanksgiving is our busiest holiday, with as many as 3000 pies being made. We are also known for our delicious wedding cakes and can be designed for any occasion. We make our own butter cream and fudge icings.
