Urodynamic Testing for Urinary Problems If you have a problem with urine leakage or blocked urine flow, one of the treatments used to evaluate the cause of your symptoms is urodynamic testing. Urodynamics is a study that assesses how the bladder and urethra are performing their job of storing and releasing urine. Urodynamic tests help us see how well your bladder and sphincter muscles work and can help explain symptoms such as: Incontinence Frequent urination Sudden, strong urges to urinate Problems starting a urine stream Painful urination Problems emptying your bladder completely Recurrent urinary tract infections Urogynecology - Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery Urogynecology is a subspecialty devoted to restoring comfort, function and quality of life to women experiencing problems with urinary control, bowel control and genital organ prolapse. Specialists that focus their expertise on these problems provide improved patient satisfaction while minimizing complications. Urogynecology is now an officially board certified subspecialty as recognized by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Board of Urology. In 2013, two of our Tampa Bay based physicians became Board Certified for this new subspecialty. There are only 40 physicians in the State that are Board Certified and 5 in Tampa Bay area. We perform urodynamic testing, comprehensive evaluation and non-surgical treatments of pelvic prolapse disorders, urinary leakage include pelvic floor muscle training, biofeedback, functional electrical stimulation and periurethral injections. When surgical therapy is appropriate, we utilize the most advanced surgical methods that include both robotic and non-robotic techniques. The Da Vinci Surgical System The Da Vinci Surgical System is a sophisticated robotic platform designed to expand the surgeon?s capabilities and offer a state-of-the-art minimally invasive option for major surgery.
