Kirin Khurshid Syed, DO

Kirin K. Syed, D.O, FACOS, is a board-certified urologist with Baptist Health and is fellowship-trained in reconstructive urologic surgery. She specializes in the full spectrum of male, female LGBTQ and pelvic health. Among the conditions Dr. Syed treats are complex voiding dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, prostate cancer screening and survivorship, erectile dysfunction and kidney stones. She has specialized advanced training in minimally invasive urethral bulking, Botox® injections, placement of female and male slings and implantation of artificial urinary sphincters and neuromodulation therapy with neurostimulators for urinary and bowel control. She also utilizes a unique non-mesh technique for bladder prolapse repair, places penile implants for erectile dysfunction and is trained in reconstructive surgery for urethral stricture disease. Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Syed served as an affiliate assistant professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine at Holy Cross Hospital. Dr. Syed earned her medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine (UMDNJ) and completed residencies in urological surgery at UMDNJ/Kennedy University Hospitals, where she served as chief resident. She also completed a fellowship in voiding dysfunction, female urology, urologic reconstruction and prosthetics at the Bladder Health and Reconstructive Urology Institute in Miramar, Fla. Dr. Syed has authored and co-authored numerous publications and posters and has presented her work at multiple national conferences. She serves as a reviewer for several medical journals. She is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and an active member of numerous professional organizations. Dr. Syed strives to provide personalized, comprehensive care through a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach in a comfortable and confidential setting. She believes that optimal health outcomes are best achieved when patients and caregivers build a trusting relationship that honors each patient’s individuality and dignity. Dr. Syed is a proponent of shared decision-making. This enables her to incorporate her patients’ values and preferences into the treatment plans and empowers her patients to actively participate in decisions related to their health and well-being. When she is not treating patients, Dr. Syed enjoys listening to audiobooks, baking and mastering the art of feeding her picky toddlers.
