Michael Yurubi, D.O., is a board-certified family medicine and sports medicine physician, specializing in the prevention, diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment muscular-skeletal system injuries. He is fluent in English and Spanish. Prior to joining Baptist Health in in 2022, Dr. Yurubi completed his primary care sports medicine fellowship for Baptist Health Orthopedic Institute, part of Baptist Health Orthopedic Care. During his fellowship, he researched ortho-biologics and platelet-rich plasma. Dr. Yurubi uses ultrasound guided procedures to provide the most innovative and effective care for his patients. He is a contributor to residency telemedicine curriculum development and is an active member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine, American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine and the American Association of Family Practice. Dr. Yurubi’s care philosophy is patient-centered, understanding that patients play a crucial role in treatment decisions. He provides individualized treatment plans based on patients’ goals and a strong understanding of their lifestyle. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Yurubi enjoys spending time with friends and family, exercising and traveling.

During his service as an orthopedic surgeon in the U.S. military's Operation Desert Storm, he was awarded various commendation medals. Dr. Hechtman is well-published and has delivered numerous presentations about orthopedic injuries. He continues to be active in research and serves as chairman of the Research Committee for Baptist Health Medical Group. He has been named one of the Best Doctors in America many times since 2003.
