Achievement Academy, established in 1955, offers educational programs to children with special needs and their families by providing early intervention through support, therapy and education, advocacy and resources. Formerly known as Child Development Center of Polk County, the academy serves children from birth through kindergarten by one-on-one early intervention sessions, weekly developmental playgroup sessions, and prekindergarten and developmental kindergarten classrooms. The academy provides free-of-charge services to families and receives funding from United Way and the Charter School to cover operational costs. Achievement Academy has charter schools throughout Florida, including Lakeland, Winter Haven and Bartow.
