This tranquil sanctuary spans 50 acres of former wastewater utility grounds, now transformed into a biodiverse haven. Visitors can meander along a three-quarter mile boardwalk, weaving through water ponds and islands teeming with nesting spots and roosting sites.

Enriched with interpretive signs and inviting gazebos with seating, the wetlands form part of the Great Florida Birding Trail's Southern sector. Boasting a staggering 178 bird species alongside captivating wildlife like turtles, alligators, and raccoons, Wakodahatchee offers a serene escape into nature's embrace.

Functioning as a percolation pond, the Southern Region Water Reclamation Facility pumps around two million gallons of purified wastewater daily into the wetlands, replenishing the water table. During peak seasons like February to April, patience is key as parking spaces may be limited. Guests are urged to savor the scenery while patiently awaiting an available spot, noting that pets are prohibited on the boardwalk and drones are not permitted.
