Maria Bendana, MD

Dr. Maria Bendana is a bilingual family medicine physician at Midtown OBGYN, offering primary care services including annual exams, sick visits, and hospital follow-ups. Originally from León, Nicaragua, she was raised in Washington before earning her medical degree in Costa Rica. Dr. Bendana completed her residency in Columbus, GA, and brings years of experience in both urgent and primary care. Fluent in English and Spanish, she is committed to providing compassionate, accessible care for patients of all backgrounds. She is currently accepting new patients for primary care.

Turena Tante, NP, joined Midtown OBGYN in 2025 after serving the Columbus community in healthcare since 1997. Originally from Metairie, LA, she has worked as a Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner in multiple settings, including Mercy Med, Piedmont, and CSU, and even owned her own practice. At Midtown OBGYN, Turena focuses on comprehensive in-clinic care with special interests in post-menopausal health, obstetrics, and primary care. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and DIY home projects. She and her husband, Tommy, are proud parents of six children and love celebrating her Louisiana roots, especially Mardi Gras.

Dr. Fortson joined Midtown OBGYN in 2017 after completion of residency in Augusta, GA. Her hometown is Decatur, GA but she proudly calls Columbus home now. She performs the full scope of OBGYN practice seeing patients in the office, performing surgeries and in-office procedures, and delivering babies. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her Husband Thomas and their two great children Charlotte and Jack. Dr. Fortson jokes she thought it was a Dateline episode the first time she went to Fortson Road in Fortson, GA to meet her Fortson in laws! Her hobbies while drinking lots of coffee include traveling, reading, and DIY home projects.
