Denis G. Kelly graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1992. He has practiced as an attorney in New York since 1992 as a trial lawyer primarily in the fields of medical malpractice and personal injury. In 1999 he was elected to the Long Beach City Council after serving as a Commissioner of the Zoning Board of Appeals of the City of Long Beach.
