It all began in 1960, when former teacher, coach and salesman Jim Tallant founded Jim's Appliance and Furniture with 2 Boise locations. In 1971 he combined the stores and relocated to the current address at 1115 Lusk Street a 30, 000 square foot building close to downtown Boise. The location includes offices, showrooms, warehouse and an in store service department. The company is known as Idaho's largest independent GE appliance outlet and the place to save since 1960. Jim's Appliance and Furniture serves the Treasure Valley and surrounding areas and offers free delivery within a 50 mile radius, plus runs north to Mccall and east to Sun Valley. They house a staff of about 20 plus the in store service department, Easy's Repair Service. Jim's has been family owned and operated since its inception. Through hard work and tremendous customer support they own both the building and the land it sets on. Its the key to low overhead and low prices. Jim's Appliance and Furniture has been recognized both locally and nationally as one of Americas Best as the business continues to thrive and grow through addressing the customers needs by the most knowledgeable sales team around. Some of Jim's awards and achievements include Idaho's Retailer of the Year, Boise Weekly's "Best of Boise" 2003 and 2004, and in 1996 Jim's Appliance was the largest volume GE/Brand Source single store dealer in America. Jim's Appliance and Furniture has developed relationships with many industry associations. For example Brand Source ( America's largest buying group ), NARDA, The National Association of Home Builders, The Building Contractors of Southwestern Idaho, The Idaho Retailers Association, Buy Idaho, Better Business Bureau, Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and NFIB "The voice of small business".
