HistorySince 1991, over 800 single mothers and children have entered the FHC program with 84% of participants graduating to independent living. Based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and serving women from across Chicagoland and the northwest suburbs, FHC was started by a local group of concerned citizens who wanted to establish a program which would meet not only emergency housing needs, but also facilitate empowerment through teaching skills that leads to sustaining long-term independence. FHC works exclusively with single women over the age of 21 with three or fewer children. To qualify for FHC services, they must also have a job and own an automobile. Clients typically range from 21 to 45 years of age and come from all cultural, racial and religious backgrounds. The majority are divorced w/ little or no dependable child support. Through a variety of circumstances, they can't afford independent housing, may be facing immediate eviction, living in borrowed rooms or even living in their car.SpecialtiesFellowship Housing is an independent, 501c3 non-profit organization that serves the needs of single moms and their children who are homeless or one small crisis away from homelessness.
