The Chicago Beach Hotel was a luxurious resort hotel built in 1892 by architect Warren Leland to accommodate tourists visiting the Columbian Exposition of 1893. With 450 rooms and 175 bathrooms, the hotel boasted high social standing residents and private beach access until 1920.
After its closure in 1942, the hotel's new wing became Gardiner General Hospital during World War II, later serving as the 5th Army Headquarters until its demolition in 1970. The site was eventually redeveloped into the Regents Park apartments in the 1970s.
