Terry and Nancy Kieffer started Plastics Unlimited in 1993 when Terry purchased an Osborn thermoforming machine at an auction and moved it to a shed on their farm, located near Preston, Iowa. As the business grew, the Kieffers purchased a spec building in Preston's industrial park and moved the business there, where it is located today. The 67, 750 square foot building has been expanded 3 times to accommodate their ever-growing business. Today Plastics Unlimited has 50 employees, including a staff of designers, mold makers and production personnel who provide the finest quality parts delivered on time to you, the customer. In addition to thermoformed parts and castable urethanes, we have a unique patent-pending process called TEC ( toolless engineered composite ) where fiberglass is bonded to a thermoformed part, creating a product with a Class A finish that is lightweight and incredibly strong. This process uses up to 20% soy-based resin. The Kieffers are currently the only thermoforming and composite business owners who are also soybean farmers. Their companies represent a complete circle in renewable resources, proudly incorporating agriculture into today's advanced technology. In 2004, another company was purchased by the Kieffers. Fabri-Glass Composites is located in Moline, Illinois, and specializes in composite molding, molded fiberglass insulation and water jet cutting. Both Plastics Unlimited and Fabri-Glass Composites are certified ISO 9001: 2000. Plastics Unlimited has been nationally honored by the Society for Plastics Engineered and American Composites Manufacturers Association.
