Founded in 1980, DeKalb Area Retirement Center - Oak Crest is an independent nonprofit community. It is accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission. Located in Dekalb, Ill., the community is a member of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, Life Services Network of Illinois and is affiliated with the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church. Its facility is spread over an area of more than 30 acres and consists of ponds, gardens, a chapel, an atrium, a game room,a lounge, private mail boxes, parking lot and a garage. The community also offers recreational opportunities, such as a library, fitness center, computer room and a working shop. DeKalb Area Retirement Center - Oak Crest provides health services, such as nursing, therapies and a health care center. It also offers services, including beauty salon, barbershop, Bible study, guest accommodations and transportation.
