John Yang, MD, is a part of the Springfield Clinic's Cardiology Department and sees patients in Effingham and Quincy.Prior to joining Springfield Clinic, Dr. Yang served as a physician for 16 years.Dr. Yang earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He completed his internal medicine residency at New York University Medical Center in New York then completed two fellowships in cardiovascular disease at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Bronx, N.Y., and at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.Dr. Yang was interested in science growing up and realized his passion for cardiology while conducting research in a lab. "Cardiology is a field where you can see the results of your care almost immediately at times," he explains. "A patient might come in looking like theyre about to collapse, and about an hour later, theyre able to sit up and eat a meal. It's incredibly gratifying to see that dramatic change so quickly.When I talk to my patients, I always tell them two things about me, says Dr. Yang. First, I cant promise that I can provide a miracle cure. But what I can promise is this: youll get my honest opinion about whats going on, and I will give you my best effort, always.Dr Yang emphasizes a holistic approach to medicine, focusing not only on cardiac issues but also on addressing all aspects of a patient's health to make the biggest impact on their overall well-being. "Seeing my patients get better is reward enough for me," he says.In his free time, Dr. Yang enjoys going on vacation with his family and supporting the St. Louis Cardinals.
