He transferred to SIU-Carbondale in 1981, graduating in May 1983 with a degree in Mortuary Science and Funeral Service.After working for various funeral homes around the state during his apprenticeship and early years of licensure, the opportunity arose in late 1985 to purchase the Ross Funeral Home in Litchfield from Wilbert and Esther Ross.
