Established in 1925, the South Side Mission is a rescue ministry that serves individuals living under the line of poverty. The organization s New Promise Center is a housing, social service and spiritual enhancement program for homeless women and their children. Its youth programs include day camps and after-school and summer programs. The South Side Mission s benevolence center offers food baskets, furniture, appliances, clothing and household goods to people in need. The organization operates a rural camp for children from low-income homes. Its child day care center provides education through Christian curriculum and offers creative play activities that promote success in children's lives. Located in Peoria, Ill., the South Side Mission additionally provides elderly services and shelter for homeless.
