Fire severely damaged the building in December of 1986. It was rebuilt on the original site in 1988.Our second location, Officer Funeral Home, Inc, was acquired in 1984 with the purchase of the former Ellis Funeral Home in St. Louis, Missouri. This expansion afforded us the opportunity to serve a greater segment of the metropolitan community.William and Anette's son, Marion E Office, Sr. and his wife, Mrytle B. Gilliam Officer succeeded his parents as President and Vice-President of the firm in 1954.A dynamic business duo, they elevated funeral service to a higher standard. Their children, M. Bernadette Officer, Carl E. Officer and Marion E. Officer, Jr, became active members of the firm and officers in the corporations. Myrtle B. Officer became CEO of the corporation in 1989 after the death of her husband.Mrs. Myrtle B. Officer continued the family tradition over the next fifteen years introducing to her clientele, industry innovations such as memorial video tributes in 1989 and the launching of our web-site with online memorials in 1999. She was the first in her geographic region to offer custom casket interiors and custom register books. Mrs. O., as she was affectionatly called, entered into eternal rest, April 23, 2004. Mrs. Officer's daughter, M. Bernadette Officer became CEO and President and her son, Carl E. Officer was named Vice-President in 2004. Representing the third generation, this sister and brother team are devoted to honoring the work of their grandparents and parents by keeping the family tradition of providing the very best in funeral service. Through the years, we have supported the community by ; opening our doors as a meeting place for numerous organizations ; providing sponsorship of athletic, educational, civic, and religous programs ; and providing a place of worship for area churches when their buildings were destroyed by fire or were otherwise displaced.
