About Alyssa Ingle In the years Alyssa Ingle has worked as a health care professional, she has experienced a broad range of situations. From working as a Relief Charge Registered Nurse to guiding new nurses and students, she has a proven ability to build positive relationships with patients, family members, and other health care professionals. “I’ve always known I wanted to work with people,” she says. A guiding principle in all she does comes from Jude 1:22, “And of some have compassion, making a difference.” This benevolent mindset guides Alyssa in her interactions with patients. “I care about each and every one of them. I will listen. I will strive to make a difference by providing the best care to them possible,” she says. In diagnosing and managing acute illness and chronic disease, providing physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health care is important to Alyssa. She enjoys family practice work as it allows her to work with people of all ages. “Each stage of life is so special and I wanted to be able to positively influence and encourage individuals,” she says. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pensacola Christian College, Florida, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Valparaiso University, Alyssa is eager to continue serving patients at Beacon. “Everyone has a story,” Alyssa says. “No story is the same and should be treated as such.” In her own words… Who are the most influential people/role models in your life? My parents. They were the hardest workers I know. They always provided above and beyond, making sacrifices so we could have a solid Christian education/home. They are so great and I’m so appreciative of them. What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? My first job was working in the laundry department in the basement of a nursing home at night, all alone. Creepy! What is your favorite food? Food: are tacos, pizza, and salad. What were your best/worst subjects in school growing up? I loved math and science courses. History was my least favorite. If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased), who would it be and why? There are too many to choose from: Jesus, individuals in the Bible, grandparents, etc. In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests? I love spending time with and helping out family and friends, spending time outside during the warm summer months, and traveling. Most importantly, being a light for Christ, a blessing to others, and promoting the gospel. What is something most people don’t know about you? I love sweets!

Dr. Martinez received her bachelor's degree from Indiana State University and her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Martinez, a South Bend native, completed her Residency in Family Medicine at the Family Medicine Residency Program at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. During her residency she also completed a Master of Public Affairs degree with an emphasis on health services management. She is board-certified in Family Medicine and has a special interest in optomizing the management of multiple chronic medical problems including chronic pain and substance use disorders. Dr. Martinez became a physician largely due to the exposure she had to medicine at a young age. "My father is a veterinarian, and a large part of my childhood was defined by the unique experiences of working in and around his practice," she says. "Assisting on farm calls and emergency surgeries in the middle of the night, were part of my life from an early age. Choosing to combine my enjoyment of science and service by becoming a doctor seemed like a natural fit." Dr. Martinez believes that medical care should be thorough and considerate of the patient's time, resources and values. "I try to treat each patient as if he or she was my only patient, to give the person the same care and consideration that I want for my family." In her spare time, Dr. Martinez enjoys reading, gardening and spending time with her husband and children.
