The company was founded in 1896, when young Teresa Marzetti arrived in the United States from Florence, Italy, and started a small Italian restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. In 1972 the restaurant closed but her many salad dressings and other specialty food products were still produced. As The Specialty Food Group of Lancaster Colony Corporation, Marzetti has plants throughout the U.S. that manufacture an expanded family of food products.
