South Dakota Soybean

The South Dakota Soybean Research & Promotion Council uses checkoff dollars to help sow the seeds of curiosity and discovery about soybeans among today's students. You never know - the fascination that germinates in a grade school could eventually flower into a breakthrough use for soybeans in graduate school. The South Dakota Soybean Research & Promotion Council sponsors cash awards to 4-H members who focus on soy or soy by-products. To be eligible for an award, the member must enter at the State Fair in one of the categories below. See SD State Fair 4-H Division Fair Book for more details. Soybean Science Kit The Soybean Science Kit provides a hands-on soy experience for students. The kit serves as a complete science lab, containing everything necessary (with the exception of a very few readily available household materials) for 30 students to participate in 21 hands-on experiments and exercises, including two new biotech lessons, an interactive CD and instructional videotape. It's designed to assist teachers in meeting the National Science Education Standards, particularly with 4th to 9th grade interdisciplinary curriculum. Over 95% of the elementary schools in South Dakota have received the kit. The South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council provides funding for the Soybean Science Kit as an investment in sparking excitement for science among students.
