Financial Institutions Department

The Kentucky Office of Financial Institutions performs the supervision of the financial services industry and chartering, licensing and registering processes for various financial institutions, securities firms and professionals in Frankfort, Ky. It serves state-chartered banks and credit unions; savings and loan associations; trust, mortgage, and consumer and industrial loan companies. The Kentucky Office of Financial Institutions conducts examinations on state-regulated financial industries through its division of financial institutions and securities. It also provides educational materials to protect consumers from financial fraud. The office has an examination agreement with the National Credit Union Administration, which maximizes the examination process and reduces regulatory burden by allowing joint or alternating examinations.
