Luke P Robinson, MD

Ethan W. Blackburn, M.D., earned his bachelor's degree from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, and his medical degree from the University of Louisville. Dr. Blackburn completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Vermont in Burlington and a fellowship in hand and upper-extremity surgery at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center in Indianapolis. Dr. Blackburn has done research in upper-extremity peripheral nerve repair and currently is involved in National Institutes of Health-sponsored studies evaluating surgical outcomes of wrist fractures and chronic nerve compression. He has special interests in nerve compression of the hand and arm, arthritis of the hand, wrist and elbow as well as complex elbow reconstruction. He cares for sports and work related injuries of the hand, wrist and elbow. Dr. Blackburn is board certified in orthopaedic surgery with a subspecialty certificate in surgery of the hand. He provides comprehensive, patient-centered surgical and nonsurgical upper-extremity care. He sees patients at Louisville Arm & Hand, a part of Norton Orthopaedic Care. Outside of work, Dr. Blackburn enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, skiing, photography, running and fishing. Dr. Blackburn has been voted by his peers as one of Louisville Magazine’s Top Docs for 2019.

Samuel D. Carter, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon with Norton Orthopedic Institute. He specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopy. Dr. Carter earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at Orthopaedic Research of Virginia, Richmond. Dr. Carter is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds subspecialty certification in sports medicine. In addition to sports medicine, Dr. Carter has special interests in femoroacetabular impingement, acetabular labral tears, knee ligament reconstruction, meniscus tears, cartilage restoration, partial knee replacement, patellar realignment, and arthroscopy of the hip, knee and shoulder. Dr. Carter believes in a patient-centered approach to orthopedic care. He maintains relationships with other physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers so that he can provide a team approach to care. He currently serves as the team physician for Male High School in Louisville and as one of the team physicians for Bellarmine University.

Nathan L. McKinney, D.O., CAQSM is an orthopedic sports medicine physician with Norton Orthopedic Institute. He specializes in nonsurgical orthopedic care for adolescents and adults. Dr. McKinney earned his medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University–DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and a fellowship in sports medicine at TriHealth/Bethesda Family Practice Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. McKinney is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine, and also certified as a clinical exercise physiologist by the American College of Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. He has special interests in ultrasound-guided injections and diagnosis, orthobiologics, sports nutrition and biomechanics. His goals of care are to efficiently provide an accurate diagnosis, empower patients with the knowledge of potential treatment options, and return patients to their desired level of activity in a safe and timely manner. Dr. McKinney previously served as team physician for Xavier University, Mt. St. Joseph University and Summit Country Day High School, all in Cincinnati, Ohio. Currently, he serves as medical co-director of jockey care at Churchill Downs, as well as team physician for Bellarmine University in Louisville and Hanover College in Indiana. A former track and field athlete at Bellarmine University, he now continues his passion for both competitive and recreational athletics in a variety of sports. He most enjoys his time spent outside with his family and friends.
