Dr. Mahan Ghiassi grew up in Nashville, TN and received his bachelors degree in neuroscience from Vanderbilt University. He was one of three students selected to early admission to Vanderbilt Medical School where he completed his medical degree. He was subsequently accepted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to complete his neurosurgery residency and fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery. He is a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is a member of Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery, American Medical Association and Southern Neurosurgical Society.Dr. Ghiassis neurosurgical expertise includes cerebrovascular disorders (aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cavernous malformations, carotid disease and stroke), brain and spine tumors and complex spinal surgery.Outside of work Dr. Ghiassi enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, reading, exercising and traveling. Dr. Ghiassi other passion outside of neurosurgery is cars. His love of cars stems from working in his fathers mechanic/body shop after school and during the summers starting at a young age. On the weekends you can usually find him working in his garage or at the race track.

He also treats vein disease such as varicose veins and leg swelling. As a Vascular Surgeon, Dr. Nagy is trained to be able to treat people in many different ways, including performing minimally invasive procedures such as stents for artery aneurysms and leg blockages and opening narrowing with balloons, while also being able to do surgical operations such as leg bypasses, carotid endarterectomy, and varicose vein removal operations.Dr. Nagys patient care philosophy is based on the belief that every patient has the right to be heard and listened to. He makes a conscious effort to understand the patients experience to correctly diagnose and communicate with the patient to ensure they can make the most informed decisions for themselves.Personally, Dr. Nagy enjoys cooking and having campfires with his kids in the backyard (including eating smores), swimming and traveling with his family. When he does have a day off, he likes waking up early, making a nice cup of coffee and sitting outside when its still cool and reading a book or the newspaper.
