Waldo County Healthcare is a network of health care providers offering a broad spectrum of services including primary care, home health care, acute hospital inpatient and outpatient care, and public health nursing which serves the health care needs of patients and their families throughout Waldo County. An affiliate of Waldo County Healthcare is Penobscot Shores, an independent living retirement community located on the ocean in Belfast, Maine. Waldo County General Hospital is a 45-bed, acute care, nonprofit community hospital. The hospital is one of a few in the state to offer renal dialysis and the only one in Maine to offer an inpatient hospice unit. Other innovative medical services include a sleep disorders lab, mammography unit, ultrasound, MRI and state-of-the-art respiratory diagnostic services. Its corporate office is in Belfast, Maine.
