The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington offers programs for the spiritual, mental and physical development of individuals, families and communities. It organizes specialty camps that include various activities, such as games, gymnastics, arts and crafts, martial arts, tae kwon do, baseball, basketball, tennis, soccer and golf. The organization offers the Counselor-in-Training course, which is a leadership training program where participants assist the counselors and camp directors in its day camps. The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington offers full- and half-day nursery school programs. Its community-based, Head Start program provides academic instruction to preschoolers, as well as a range of support services for the family. The organization offers several adventure activities that include water rafting, rock climbing, rappelling, caving and ropes courses. The organization is located in Washington, D.C.
