Her academic focus has been on social media in medicine, medical education, narrative medicine, and well-being. She is the editor of the book Mothers in Medicine: Career, Practice, and Life Lessons Learned (Springer, 2018) based on the group blog she founded in 2008 and author of the book I Wish I Read This Book Before Medical School (Peterson's, 2021). Katherine became a certified Life Coach in July 2023.
