Haven Shelter & Services, Inc is committed to preventing and eliminating all types of domestic violence and sexual assault within our service area, which includes Westmoreland, Richmond, Essex, Lancaster and Northumberland Counties. The primary focus of The Haven's mission is to provide advocacy and shelter for identified victims of partner abuse and sexual assault as well as to provide support services to victims and their families. To greater further its mission, The Haven seeks to enhance public awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault through community outreach and education. The program was established in 1986 under the name of The Haven in Richmond County. The Haven opened its first door in September in 1987 as a furnished, one bedroom apartment able to house 7 persons from one family. It was run solely by volunteers from the Family Focus Board. Board members from the Department of Social Services provided intake and administration that first year. Additional services were provided by the organizations of other participating board members.

The Transportation Learning Center, based in Silver Spring, MD, is a leading organization dedicated to the development and enhancement of the transit workforce. In partnership with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), they have launched the Transit Workforce Center, which focuses on providing resources, solutions, and services to support the transit industry. With a commitment to national training standards and the promotion of industry training, the center offers a range of publications, reports, and technical white papers to keep professionals up to date. As a trusted resource in the transportation sector, the International Transportation Learning Center also offers the Transit Training Network, where industry professionals can access and rate courseware in bus, rail, and elevator escalator maintenance. With a focus on addressing the evolving needs of the transit workforce, the center actively participates in events and conferences, such as the Transportation Research Board's Annual Meeting, to share their expertise and showcase their Transit Workforce Data Dashboard. The National Association of State Directors of Career Technical Education Consortium, located in Washington, D.C., is a professional society of the state and territory agency heads responsible for career technical education. Founded in 1920, NASDCTEc has a membership of more than 200 senior state staff and individuals that work to ensure quality career technical education at the secondary, postsecondary and adult levels. The association is governed by a board of directors comprising 16 members that include one associate member representative and four officers. NASDCTEc hosts two national meetings every year that provide information on legislation, research, and emerging issues important to career technical education. It maintains an active listing service system for state directors, and publishes a monthly electronic newsletter.
