Fariba Asrari, MD

Dr. Helene Hedian is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the Director of Clinical Education at the Johns Hopkins Center for Transgender and Gender Expansive Health, and the Assistant Vice Chair for LGBTQ+ Equity and Education in the Department of Medicine. Her academic interests include internal medicine, medical education, and the specific health needs of LGBTQ patients. Dr. Hedian studied biochemistry and Spanish at the University of Dayton, attended medical school at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Maryland, where she was selected as a chief resident. She joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins University in 2016.Her research focuses on provider attitudes and knowledge regarding LGBTQ health, with the goal of expanding competent and compassionate healthcare practices. In her clinical practice, she has cared for hundreds of transgender and gender diverse patients.To support primary care providers who prescribe gender-affirming hormones, she authored the Quick Guide: Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy by the Primary Care Provider. As of February 2024, the Quick Guide has been downloaded over 1,500 times and in the following locations: Australia, Canada, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russian Federation, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Dr. Tseng is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Assistant Vice Chair for Women's Careers in Academic Medicine for the Department of Medicine. She completed her MD and MPH degree at Tufts University School of Medicine. She then completed internal medicine residency at Jefferson University Hospital. Subsequently, Dr. Tseng completed a General Internal Medicine Fellowship at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Tseng spends her time taking care of patients at the General Internal Medicine Clinic at Green Spring Station and conducting research. Her research focus is on how to improve diabetes prevention in the primary care setting.

Dr. Chaudhry is an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her areas of clinical expertise include Obesity Medicine.Dr. Chaudhry earned her medical degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College in Pakistan. She completed her residency at the University of Iowa-Des Moines. Dr. Chaudhry has sought out additional training in patient-centered counseling and motivational interviewing through the Johns Hopkins Patient Engagement Program.Dr. Chaudhry research is focused on understanding the prevention of weight gain in high-risk populations such as individuals with Type 2 diabetes mellitus and cancer survivors, as well as examining the evidence to support the efficacy of commercial weight-loss programs.Dr. Chaudhry serves as the co-director of the course on nutrition and behavior change for first-year medical students at Johns Hopkins, and precepts both obesity medicine fellows, internal medicine and preventive medicine residents at Johns Hopkins.
