Dr. Wiener is also an associate editor of the American Journal of Medicine and has authored the last four editions of the Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine Self-Assessment and Board Review.He received a bachelor's degree from Duke University and a medical degree from the University of Miami. He completed specialty training and his chief residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle from 1982 to 1986. The following year, Dr. Wiener was an American Heart Association research fellow in the Hammersmith Hospital respiratory physiology unit in London. From 1987 to 1991, he was a fellow in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins.
