The Stevensville Bank, located in Stevensville, Maryland, is a historic institution that played a significant role in the financial development of Kent Island. Established in 1903, it served as the area's first bank, providing deposit and loan services to the community. The bank's original building, completed in 1909, still stands today and features a stucco exterior and an intact ornamental pressed-tin ceiling.
Over its 57-year operation, the bank weathered economic challenges, including the Great Depression, and witnessed the growth and changes brought by the opening of the Bay Bridge in 1952. In 1960, it was renamed The Tidewater Bank and relocated to the Kent Island Shopping Center area. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building is leased by the Kent Island Heritage Society, Inc., which aims to preserve and maintain the heritage of Kent Island.
