Prior to joining the faculty at Johns Hopkins in 2006, he was Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology, Founder and Head of Aero digestive Cancer/Biomarker Program in School of Medicine, University of Maryland at Baltimore. He is an Associate Editor of Cancer Research and a member of the editorial board of Esophageal. He has published 152 original scientific papers in high-impact scientific journals. He also has 43 chapters, review articles, editorials, or letters to the editor; 1 book; and 139 abstracts to his name. He has given a plethora of invited lectures around the world, all involving his principal field of esophageal and gastrointestinal cancer research. He has been the recipient of numerous prestigious national and international awards, including the Robert and Sally D.
