Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department offers fire assistance and emergency medical care services. Its equipment includes trucks, rescue vehicles, ambulances, tankers, engines and various utility vehicles. The department organizes fundraising programs and has a staff of medical technicians and firefighters. Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department also employs more than seven line officers. It offers protection from motor vehicle accidents and residential mishaps. The department is located in Berlin, Md.

Founded in 1969, Berlin Intermediate School enrolls more than 700 students in grades four through six. It supports the Destination ImagiNation club. The school operates an after-school academy that provides various academic and arts programs. Berlin Intermediate School additionally offers a performing arts program where students present musicals twice a year. It also offers a range of character education and positive incentive programs.
