For decades Shentel has published a printed telephone directory in Shenandoah County. That tradition has continued with an expanded six-county ShentelPages directory that provides white page and yellow page listings in Shenandoah, Page, Warren, Clarke, Rockingham and Frederick counties. ShentelPages.com is the electronic version of that expanded directory. The purpose of ShentelPages.com is to reach computer Internet users and other consumers in a revolutionary, dynamic and cost efficient manner as compared to traditional advertising mediums. Research shows that the percentage of people in the region with access to the Internet has grown from 60 to 72.4 percent. In 2000, 34 percent of the folks with Internet access bought something online. In 2002, that figure grew to 50.4 percent. No traditional form of advertising can claim that growth or reach. The format of the ShentelPages.com on-line business directory has been carefully designed to closely follow a standard printed directory format. As customers adapt to the on-line format, the many familiar features found in ShentelPages.com will provide a comfortable transition. The Web page listings include plain text and enhanced options. For example, one enhanced feature allows a business name to display in bold type. The on-line listings also include In-column ads, and graphically designed display ads. Both ad types currently can be found in printed Yellow Page directories. The relatively flexible publishing environment of the World Wide Web makes it possible to expand traditional, static, printed directory listings into easily-and-immediately-updateable web pages. The display ad web pages are counterparts of graphical display ads that appear in printed books. Unlike ads on static, printed-paper directory pages, Web ad content can be updated directly by the advertiser. The greater degree of timeliness and the ability to make quick changes are a huge benefit. Multimedia video and audio presentations can also be integrated into a customer's ShentelPages.com presence as a powerful mean to enhance a value story. The advertiser has a wider range of media options and is free to choose whatever combination best sells the product or service. A flexible and easily updateable web publishing medium, as well as the integration of audio and video content, makes ShentelPages.com an exciting, appealing, contemporary and effective advertising alternative for a wide variety of Shenandoah Valley business customers. ShentelPages.com is another quality product from ShenTel Service Company, a subsidiary of Shenandoah Telecommunications Company. The Company started in 1902 providing telephone service Shenandoah County residents and businesses. Today, it provides various telecommunications services through its operating subsidiaries. These services include: telephone service, cable television service ; unregulated telecommunications equipment and sales ; Internet access, paging and long distance services ; interstate fiber optic network ; and building and operating a wireless communication service in a four-state region.
