Vietnam Veterans of America operates on behalf of Vietnam veterans and their families to promote and support the full range of issues important to Vietnam veterans, to create a new identity for this generation of veterans and to change public perception of Vietnam veterans. The entity s motivation for organizing is reflected in its motto: "never again shall one generation of veterans abandon another." The VVA has more than 50,000 individual members and 500-plus local chapters. Some of the organization s special programs include government relations advocacy, the National Task Force for Homeless Veterans, health care for veterans, a national scholarship fund and Vietnam Veterans of America Legal Services. A nonprofit organization, Vietnam Veterans of America is funded entirely by donations.
