William Frank Simonds, MD

Dr. Schaaf is a graduate of the Drexel University College of Medicine (formerly Medical College of Pennsylvania Hahnemann School of Medicine). He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, VA, where he served as chief resident. He also completed his pediatric radiology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. His special interests include cardiac imaging. His research on using magnetic resonance sleep studies to predict the success or failure of genioglossus advancement in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea was selected for presentation at the Society for Pediatric Radiology in April 2009.

Dr. Elie Portnoy is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Science in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Interventional Radiology Department and Diagnostic Imaging Department at Johns Hopkins Hospital.Dr. Portnoy received his undergraduate degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Biology from Yeshiva University. He earned his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine with Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society Distinction. He completed an internal medicine internship at the North Shore-LIJ Hospital System in Long Island, NY. He then completed his diagnostic radiology residency and performed a subspecialty fellowship in interventional radiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Portnoy joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2017.Dr. Portnoy's clinical specialty work and research has centered on interventions related to Submassive and Massive Pulmonary Embolism, as well as Uterine Artery and other visceral embolizations.Dr. Portnoy was awarded Hospital Radiology High-Value Ambassador in 2016. He was voted both residency and fellowship Teacher of the Year in successive years. He is a member of the American College of Radiology, Society of Interventional Radiology and Radiologic Society of North America.

Mustafa Iftikhar, M.D., is the Stephen J. Ryan Assistant Chief of Service and assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine. Dr. Iftikhar completed his ophthalmology residency at Wilmer, followed by a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Duke University Hospital. His clinical approach is rooted in patient-centered and evidence-based care. Dr. Iftikhar’s research interests include retinal diseases, ocular trauma, and healthcare disparities. He is deeply committed to surgical education and takes great pride in mentoring the next generation of ophthalmologists.
