Amaral's Market has proudly provided the Portuguese community of New Bedford, Massachusetts with the best in imported and domestic Portuguese foods for over 40 years. New Bedford is also the country's largest fishing seaport where the majority of fleet boats operate under Portuguese captains. This local catchproximity enables Amaral's to offer the finest and freshest cold-water seafood to customers nationwide 365 days per year. Founded as Amaral's Fish Market in 1967, the specialty food store was acquired in 1974 by Gertulio Magalhaes who immigrated from Tr s-os-Montes in northern Portugal. Today, Amaral's continues to operate as a family market under the succession ownership of son, Daniel Magalhaes. Over the decades, the Magalhaes family has expanded their food business several fold including the divisional acquisition of State Fruit Food Service in 2003.
