East Boston Neighborhood Health Center

HistoryOur story begins in the late 1960s, when an East Boston community group decided to address a critical shortage of available primary care in the area. Residents of geographically isolated East Boston were spending hours traveling to receive care outside the community, sometimes living with untreated conditions, and doing without timely prenatal care and important health screenings. It was a time for community action and our emerging health center was front and center within this new movement! Our founding leadership envisioned a health center that would serve the economically disadvantaged and largely immigrant communities and become the medical provider of choice for every person in our community, including our board members. In 1978, EBNHC moved to a new facility in response to dramatically increasing demand for primary care and specialty services. The decades that followed have brought unending growth in response to community need. EBNHC is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.SpecialtiesUrgent Care, Primary Care, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Eye Doctors, Pediatric Dental, Women's Health, Adult Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Chronic Disease Management, HIV/AIDS Services, Childhood Obesity, Children with Complex Medical Needs, Vision Services, Optical Shop, Glasses, Eyeglasses, Contacts, Radiology, X-Rays, Mental Health, Audiology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Nutrition, Orthopedics, Pulmonary Care, Tuberculosis Clinic, Coumadin Clinic, Pharmacies, Education and Training,
