Dana-Farber/Boston Children's treats all primary liver tumors occurring in children and young adults. The two most common types of liver tumors are hepatoblastoma and hepatocellular carcinoma. We care for both newly diagnosed liver cancer and for children with relapsed disease. We have some of the most experienced pediatric liver cancer oncologists and surgeons in the world, as well as internationally recognized pediatric subspecialists who use sophisticated technology and therapies to maximize outcomes for our patients.

Radiation oncology (also known as radiation therapy) at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center plays a significant role in childhood cancer care. Our pediatric radiation oncologists are specially trained to give your child safe, effective radiation treatments, during which high doses of radiation destroy or reduce the size of a tumor while sparing the healthy tissues and organs that surround it.

Dana-Farber/Boston Children's was the first hospital in New England to offer MIBG therapy (metaiodobenzylguanidine) to treat high-risk neuroblastoma (including relapsed or refractory neuroblastoma), and is currently one of only about 10 hospitals in the country to provide this therapy. Our I-131 MIBG room is a 256-square-foot hospital room designed specifically for this treatment at Boston Children's Hospital. The room has added protective features to help manage the MIBG therapy safely for both patients and staff, and has an anteroom where parents can stay to help with the care of their child and be in close proximity throughout the therapy.
