South Elementary School

South Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through grade four. It operates several academic departments, such as language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The school additionally has art, music, Spanish and physical education specialists. South Elementary School offers a reading intervention program that develops reading fluency within a meaning-based context. It also offers a reading recovery program that encourages students to access their oral language skills, phonemic awareness and picture cues that assist them in reading and writing. In addition, the school offers the Read Naturally Program, which provides methods to improve reading fluency through three strategies, including teacher modeling, repeated reading and progress monitoring.
