Darrell’s Market was originally founded in 1945 as a small country grocery store by Darrell Gavin on the southwest corner of Columbia & Aurelius roads (currently the Thriftway Building across from our current location). Ten years later due to Darrell’s illness, his son Jim Blauvelt left college to manage the store in his place. Jim and his wife Pat expanded the business over the next 40 years, including the building the current location in 1975/8 as well as expanding the current location to 25,000 square feet in 1987, and rebuilding the south part of the store after a fire in 1992. In 1996 Scott & Jamie Robinson assumed third-generation ownership and have worked hard to give back to the community that has supported them over the last 80 years.
