East Lansing Band & Orchestra

The East Lansing Orchestra Program, part of the East Lansing Public Schools, has been nurturing young musicians for over sixty years, beginning under the leadership of Richard H. Snook and later expanded by educators such as Gerald L. Bartlett and Dorothy McDonald. The program serves over 250 students in grades 6-12, providing them with opportunities to perform, learn, and create music while fostering friendships.

Students participate in a variety of orchestral ensembles, ranging from the entry-level Concert Orchestra to the auditioned Encore Strings, and have the chance to perform in numerous concerts and festivals each year. The program also introduces students to unique experiences, including collaborations with renowned artists and travel opportunities to destinations like Washington D.C., Florida, and New York.
