The Southern Michigan Railroad Society is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving the history and experiences of railway travel from the Golden Age of railroads, specifically between 1920 and 1960. Recently, they received a $10,000 grant from the John H. Emery Rail Heritage Trust to aid in the movement and stabilization of their heavyweight Pullman sleeper car, Emerald Vale, originally built in 1915.
In celebration of their 40th anniversary, the Southern Michigan Railroad Society has undertaken a major overhaul of their digital presence to provide real-time information about events, ticketing, and local attractions. Committed to inclusivity, the Society ensures a welcoming environment for all members of the community without discrimination.
