The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement services to the city of Brainerd, Minn., which has a population of more than 60,000 residents. It has approximately 130 employees, including administrators, investigators, field deputies, correctional officers, dispatchers and clerical staff members. The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office operates an investigations division that handles cases related to homicide, burglary, theft, sexual and aggravated assaults, and financial and computer crimes. It also operates a tactical team, bomb squad, and boat and water division. The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office maintains a detention center, which is a 78,000-square-foot facility with a gym, library, medical unit and more than 280 beds.
