Springhill Cemetery

Springhill Historic Memorial Garden Cemetery, established in 1836, is DeSoto County's oldest cemetery, serving as a public burial ground for both free and enslaved residents of Hernando. The site, which contains around 100 gravemarkers and likely 500 to 1,000 burials, reflects the rich history of the area, including the graves of early city officials, merchants, and Freedmen and women who had monuments erected in their memory.
