Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, MT, originated during World War II as the Great Falls Army Air Base for B-17 Flying Fortress bomber crew training. Today, the base is pivotal in operating the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile, being one of three U.S. Air Force bases with this role.
The 341st Missile Wing at Malmstrom AFB includes five groups, such as Operations, Maintenance, Security Forces, Mission Support, and Medical. Tenant units like the 40th Helicopter Squadron contribute to daily security across a vast missile complex, enhancing operational efficiency.
