Independence Inn

The 200-year-old historic Independence Inn, in Strafford, is located in the heart of New Hampshire, giving you easy day-trip access to explore the lovely Lake Winnipesaukee communities, Gunstock Mountain ski area, and hiking trails to the north, Portsmouth and the Seacoast region (Exeter/beaches/southern Maine) to the east, the Merrimack Valley (Concord, Manchester) to the west, and Canobie Lake Park, Nashua, Salem, Derry, and Massachusetts to the south. The Inn features six cozy, recently "refreshed" colonial-era rooms, each with a private bath, comfortable seating, a writing desk, a mini-fridge, and a coffee maker. A two-room suite is perfect for families with children, offering a king-sized bed, a sectional sofa, two futons, and a dining table. A "kitchenette" on the second floor provides free continental breakfast items each morning, and guests may use its microwave and toaster oven. Our self-check-in process enables you to arrive on your own schedule; if you are arriving on Thurs-Sun, after you settle into your room be sure to enjoy our delicious "American/Global Fusion" cuisine and a full bar at our onsite restaurant, Heartwood (open Thu-Sun, 5-8p).
