About Chris Perkins: Chris Perkins owns and operates Lightning Enterprises, a company devoted to developing and manufacturing products and equipment designed for professional hearing aid repair and maintenance. He has been involved in the hearing aid industry since 1990, and has worked in hearing aid manufacturing, hearing products development, and consulting. When we started Lightning Enterprises back in 1998, I really didn't know what I to expect. I was working for a hearing aid manufacturer at the time as a product developer, but where it was a small company I also filled in at times in other areas. While helping out in the repair department, I began to noticed how many hearing aids came back for repair that were really very minor issues things that could be easily repaired in the office. I thought about how inefficient it was to send minor repairs back to the factory, and how inconvenient it must be for the customer who would be without their hearing aids. So, I came up with this idea: To start a company dedicated to providing meaningful, easy-to-use equipment for hearing health providers in an effort to have more hearing aids repaired or modified in the office or lab. Not major rebuilds, but small fixes or modifications. After all, who knows what the patient needs better than their provider? As I said, I didn't know what to expect I had never actually run a business like this before. But what we have established has been absolutely amazing. Our equipment has been well received, we have a great reputation for quality, and the feeling of helping providers help their patients has been extremely gratifying. We are excited every day to continue developing products, and delivering quality solutions for hearing aid repair and maintenance.
