Established in 1945 by Barney and Inez Branca, BEC began as engineering and construction firm providing complete design and build services. Based in East Rutherford, N.J., the company was one of the first building contractors to develop the Hackensack Meadowlands area. It has also grown to become one of the largest general contracting firms in the state. BEC has worked in a variety of sectors such as retail, hotels, printing plants, offices, entertainment and distribution. Some of its clients include 3M, A&P Supermarkets, Acme Supermarkets, Admiral Corp., Allied Beverages, American Cyanamid, Aris Isotoner, Arrow-Hart, Asbury Park Press, Becton & Dickinson, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Bentex Mills Div. Dow Badische, Bergen Record, Best Foods and BJ's Wholesale Club. Its sister company, Branca Properties owns and manages more than 1,530,000-square-feet of office, industrial and retail space.
