Joseph Nachef, PA-C is a member of Summit Healths Urgent Care team. Mr. Nachef joined Summit Health based on their strong patient-first commitment. The mantra of patient centered medicine is how I was trained. Finding a group that practiced in that same manner was important to me. Every patient deserves focused attention on their needs and concerns, says Mr. Nachef.Before joining Summit Health, Mr. Nachef worked in a primary care setting in Essex County caring for a variety of patients with both chronic and acute conditions. In addition to his PA degree in medicine, he holds another advanced degree in molecular biology and uses his diverse training to help promote the health goals of his patients. This diversified background inspires him to research the most practical options for each individual and to think outside of the box when considering solutions and potential treatments. Mr. Nachef is also motivated to spend time educating his patients during visits to empower them to make the best possible medical decisions.He is also a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the New Jersey State Society of Physician Assistants.When hes not practicing, Mr. Nachef enjoys promoting the PA profession and the sciences by teaching at local universities and mentoring future PAs. He enjoys cooking, cycling, working out, traveling, listening to podcasts, and spending quality time with his family.

Stephen M. Kocaj, MD has expertise in orthopaedic sports medicine surgery and orthopaedic trauma surgery, with a special focus on knee ligament reconstruction, arthroscopic shoulder surgery and fractures repair of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle. His training and expertise allow him to provide comprehensive care for athletes, including those who participate in professional, collegiate, high school and recreational sports.Dr. Kocajs professional experience includes Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Emory University Hospital and Orthopaedic Trauma Attending at Atlantas Level -1 Trauma Center, Grady Memorial Hospital, where he taught and supervised the Emory orthopedic residency program. He has also served as an assistant team physician for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team, Jacksonville State Gamecocks football, Birmingham Barons minor league baseball team and Georgia Techs football and mens basketball teams.While in his fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Kocaj received specialized training in minimally invasive reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament, as well as meniscus and collateral ligament repair in the knee. In addition, he received advanced training in arthroscopic shoulder surgery, focusing on rotator cuff and labral repair. Dr. Kocaj trained with some of the worlds top shoulder and knee surgeons.Dr. Kocajs research interests are primarily devoted to anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and treatment of rotator cuff injuries in the shoulder. He has co-authored and presented several articles on these research interests both locally and nationally. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Association of North America, and the Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also the recipient of the Patients Choice Award for his outstanding care and services, including bedside manner, approach to patient visits, availability for appointments and the courtesy of his office staff.Dr. Kocaj is presently Head Team Physician for Fairleigh Dickinson Universitys athletic programs and is the team physician for Westfield High School Football.A member of the Middlebury College football and mens lacrosse teams, Dr. Kocaj has participated in athletics since his youth and understands the importance of accurate, effective medical interventions that improve an athletes ability to perform at his or her highest level.Dr. Kocaj is a native of Westfield, New Jersey. When not working he enjoys fishing, playing lacrosse and tennis. He is a US Lacrosse certified coach and currently coaches boys youth lacrosse in Westfield.

Gary L. Kohn, MD, FAAP, FACCP, specializes in pediatric pulmonary and critical care medicine. Dr. Kohn's expertise includes lung diseases in infants, children, and adolescents such as asthma, cough, pneumonia, wheezing, difficulty breathing during exercise, shortness of breath, lung disease associated with premature birth, neuromuscular weakness, and genetic disorders. He also evaluates children who snore and have sleep disturbances.In addition to his position at Summit Health, Dr. Kohn is an attending physician in pediatric critical care medicine at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. He also provides inpatient pediatric pulmonary consultations at Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center. Dr. Kohn is Assistant Clinical Professor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick.From 2006 until 2014, Dr. Kohn practiced privately with Pulmonary and Allergy Associates in Summit, New Jersey. He has been an attending physician in pediatric critical care medicine for Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey.Dr. Kohn says, "Some of my family members were physicians, dentists, and social workers whose positive effects on other people inspired my interest in medicine." He adds, "My goal is to provide the best pediatric pulmonary medicine in the region. My approach includes friendly, responsive, effective communication with my patients, their parents, and their primary care providers."A sought-after speaker, Dr. Kohn has delivered local, regional, and national invited presentations and medical grand rounds on asthma and pediatric critical care.
